Product Description
Winegrowers of Ara is an interesting new venture in Marlborough region in New Zealand.
With the notion of "terroir" in mind, this is one of the first New World "Origin Brand".
So Winegrowers of Ara is a wine brand that (1) reflects its location; and (2) combines the philosophy of how things are done.
"The way things are done influences the product as much as the soil type and the climate'. So this is a fresh vision of terroir, where the way of doing things, itself based on an underlying philosophy, is combine seamlessly with characteristics of the wine that stem from its location (which is the traditional view of terroir)" Damien Martin, founder of Ara.
The terroir is an entire river terrace at the meeting point of the Waihopai and Wairau rivers. it was a single land form, different to anywhere else in Marlborough and with the terrace at higher altitude than other Marlborough sites.
The wines reflect the philosophy of Ara and in April 2011 their Sauvignon Blanc range was awarded 4 Stars by Rosemary George of Decanter Magasine.
We selected for you a mixed case of Ara's wines available in 6 or 12 bottles.
Sauvignon Blanc 2009: a classic expression of Marlborough with lively citrus and tropical fruit aromas; delivered with a clean finish. (3 or 6 bottles)
Pinot Noir 2009: sweet berry fruit aromas and light spice notes wrapped up with a lingering savoury finish. cellaring for up to 3 – 5 years.
